ground flow
“ground flow” was created during the exhibition “garnichten” at Villa Sponte, curated by Ingrid Ogenstedt.
The sculpture is made of hyper-tufa, a mixture of cement and peat. It draws inspiration from geological and landscape processes and draws attention to landscapes that continue to be shaped by mining and drainage to this day. Hypetufa is very popular in the U.S. and is typically used for decorative garden objects, as its properties such as light weight, thermal insulation, weather resistance, and the ability to absorb and release water make it well-suited for planting. The focus is not on the finished design, but rather on the ongoing transformation brought about by the climate and natural colonization processes. In this drawing, the garden's regional conditions are observed for themselves. In this way the sculpture draws attention to the garden as a place where regional environmental conditions manifest themselves and can be observed.
